7 Days – Moroccan Desert Adventure

Drive from Marrakech towards the UNESCO Site of Ait Ben Haddou.  Eventually traverse the High Atlas Mountains via the Tichka Pass (2260m), offering some exhilarating driving via lush valleys and traditional pise villages.  After the pass, take the route to Telouet to visit the Kasbah Glaoua and then follow the course of the beautiful Ounila Valley in the foothills, to reach Ait Ben Haddou which is essentially a living museum, comprising numerous ksar (series of earth dwellings) and has been used as the backdrop in many international films. You will enjoy an overnight stay close to Ait Ben Haddou in a Berber village.

The route of the Ounila Valley was part of the main caravan trade route to Marrakech from sub-Saharan Africa, where the High Atlas Mountains were crossed at the Telouet Pass.

After lunch in a typical location, we depart towards the Gorges of Dades crossing the Valley of the Roses.

Driving through the amazing palm tree valley of Draa famous for the many Kasbahs.

Overnight stay in Zagora, a beautiful small town at the  entrance to the desert.

Driving through typical Berber villages to M’Hamid; the last village at the entrance to the desert and into the heart of the desert to the bivaq Chigaga, located in the middle of the big dunes called the Ocean of Sand.

Overnight stay in typical Berber tents or outside under the stars.

Driving out of the heart of the desert through Ouarzazate, a pleasant desert town and ‘capital’ of the south of Morocco.

Overnight stay close to the famous Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO cultural heritage site.

Driving to Marrakech across the High Atlas Mountains where we shall enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Dinner and overnight stay in Marrakech.
